rehman-malikKARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that Tahir-ul-Qadri will be held repsonsible if any harm occurs due to the Long March, reported the media on Thursday.

Malik, on Thursday said that he will offer Minhaj-ul-Quran chief Tahir-ul-Qadri a helicopter to Islamabad for his safety.

He said that he would provide the services of a helicopter if Minhaj-ul-Quran chief feels his life is threatened, but he should abandon the idea of coming to Islamabad by road.

Qadri has threatened to lead a protest march on the capital if the government fails to begin electoral reforms within three weeks.

Addressing a crowd of at least 100,000 in Lahore, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said thatmeaningful reforms were needed as country approaches general elections expected in the spring.

Qadri said, the political and economic system had collapsed and gives the government a deadline of three weeks to establish an honest and  independent body that to introduce electoral reforms to pave the way for free and fair elections.

If the government failed to meet his demands by January 10, then followers of his movement would take part in a "long march" on
Islamabad, and would remain there until their demands were met, he added.

According to police at least 100,000 people participated in the rally.
