Altaf-HussainKARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that the pary will join the Long March of Minhaj-ul-Quran chief Tahir-ul-Qadri, the media reported on Thursday.

In his telephonic address from London at the Lal Qila here, Altaf Hussain said, "We have not broken away from the government", adding, "We will take part in the Long March."

"PPP has also held long marches," he said.

"No political party can be called political," adding, "They don't even know the meaning of democracy".

Parliament has not benefitted the country, the MQM chief lamented.

"We tolerated the government's decisions now they should torerate our decision to join the Long March," adding, "PPP also did long march."

Speaking further, Altaf said, local bodies are a nursery for democracy, adding, "If local bodies system is not put in place then Urdu-speaking Sindhis will be forced to chant slogans of breaking Sindh up.

However, he added that the MQM is not in favour of breaking up Sindh.

"It was said that the governor would be removed if MQM took part in the Long March," said Altaf, adding, "If you want to remove the governor then remove him now."

"Quaid-e-Azam also held a British passport," he said.

Compounding Altaf Hussain's statement, MQM Deputy Convener, Farooq Sattar said, "Quaid-e-Azam was faced with the same situation as yourself."

MQM leaders advised him against coming back to Pakistan when asked by the MQM chief whether he should come back to the country.

About the recent violation of Pakistani border by India, he said the Indian government should take serious nnotice of these attacks.

Earlier, the "political drone" strike promised by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain was expected at 5.00pm today.

Altaf Hussain's announcement has come at a time when pressure is mounting on all political parties with Tahirul Qadri’s Long March just round the corner.

Party members and workers were urged to prepare themselves for the political drone strike and its after effects.

What the drone attack will bring was anybody's guess. It was being speculated that the party may part ways with the government, the MQM chief could return to the country for contempt of court case against him, which was dismissed after his representatives tendered an apology, or they may stay away from assemblies.

MQM leaders were asked to not divulge what Altaf Hussain's political drone might be as they did not want to lose the element of surprise.

The MQM chief said that no one would be able to respond to the political drone attack.
