836 healthcare workers in Punjab have contracted coronavirus

Punjab is able to conduct 10000 coronavirus tests a day now, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) announced on Thursday.

In a tweet, the authority said till date, the province has tested 317,893 people. However, it added that now the current testing capacity in the province stands at 10,000.

The PDMA urged citizens to practice social distance and maintain distance of at least 6ft and wash their hands every two hours. "Help our frontlines fighters to defeat coronavirus. Do not leave your home unless it's extremely essential. Do not visit houses of your relatives and friends," the authority urged.

So far out of 4,116 tested, 836 healthcare workers in the province have contracted the virus. Punjab has recorded 45,463 cases and 841 deaths.
