ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Thursday warned India against any misadventure, saying that Pakistan would give an immediate and befitting response to any such attempt.

Responding to the provoking statements by certain Indian leaders, Foreign Minister Qureshi made it clear that Pakistan was quite capable of defending itself against any Indian aggression.

"If India commits any mistake, it will be responded fully and immediately," he warned, adding that Indian rulers considered Pakistan as a soft target, but Pakistan was not a soft target.

Qureshi said India's continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) were part of its planned strategy aimed at diverting its people's attention from failures of the Modi government.

"If India believes that Pakistan will withdraw its support to Kashmiris due to its threats, it is mistaken," he further stated, adding that Pakistan wanted resolution of the Kashmir issue and it would continue raising voice over India's barbarism against Kashmiri people.

The foreign minister asserted that Pakistan held a principled stance and the international community also supported the country's position, adding that the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strengthened Pakistan's principled stance on Kashmir.

Referring to the standoff between China and India in Ladakh, the foreign minister asked India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to tell the truth to the Indian people, adding as per the international media reports, India had surrendered its land.

"Narendra Modi, Amit Shah! Tell me what is happening in Ladakh? Why is the Indian media silent? The media all over the world is saying that you surrendered your area...you resorted to encroach upon a disputed land and the reaction was natural," he added.

Qureshi further stated all its neighbours had serious concerns over the Indian attitude in the region, adding that feelings of Muslims in the Gulf region were not good about India and its attitude had hurt their sentiments.

The foreign minister further stated that Pakistan desired peace and stability in the region. "Our focus is on Afghanistan where we are focused on advancing the Afghan peace process," he added.
