PESHAWAR: Mixed trend in prices of important kitchen items, including chicken meat, flour, pulses, vegetable, sugar and others was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey conducted by the Business Recorder, here on Sunday.
Price of live chicken/meat has decreased at Rs 201 per kilogramme which was sold at Rs Rs 213-216 per kilogramme during last week in the local market, according to the survey. Farm eggs are being sold at Rs 120-130. However, price of cow meat was remained unchanged as available at Rs 450-500 per kilogramme, whereas mutton was available at Rs 1000-1100 per kilogramme.
Similarly, milk sellers are continuously swindled the poor masses by openly defying official pricelist and selling fresh milk at Rs 120-130 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 90 per litre, while yogurt was available at Rs 130-140 per kilogramme against the official fixed price of Rs 80 per kilogramme, the survey noticed.
According to the survey, the price of flour has been decreased as supply of wheat started from Punjab. It noticed a reduction of Rs 100 per 20 kg flour bag and Rs 2,000 per 80 kg flour sac was witnessed. Sugar is being sold at Rs 80 per kilogramme.
The survey witnessed the prices pulses and food grains remained high-side in retail market. For instance, good quality rice (sela) was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme. Tota rice is being sold at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme. Price of red bean is being sold at Rs 220-250 per kilogramme, Dal Mash at Rs 260-270 per kilogramme in the local market.
According to the survey, the prices of veggies remained sky-rocketed in the local market. Ginger is being sold at Rs400-450 per kilogramme, garlic was available at Rs300-320 per kilogarmme. Capsicum is priced at Rs120 per kilogramme, while ladyfinger is being sold at Rs120-130 per kilogramme.
Peas are being sold at Rs 160-200 per kilogramme, Arvi at Rs 100-120 per kilogramme. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 60-70 per kilogramme. Lemon was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme, onion at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme. Tomatoes are being available at Rs 40-50 per kilogramme.
Red potato is being sold at Rs80 and Rs100 per kilogramme while white-coloured potatoes are being available at Rs50 per kilogramme. Cabbage was available at Rs60 per kilogramme, cauliflower at Rs50-60 per kilogramme. Bringle is being sold at Rs80 per kilogramme. Green chilli is being sold at Rs120 per kilogramme against the price of Rs150 per kilogramme in the previous week.
Fruit is a staple, which also completely reached out from the purchasing power of the common man as prices have touched new heights.
