ISLAMABAD: Following rapid increase in cases of deadly Covid-19 in general and some residential sectors in particular of the capital city, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on Tuesday decided to again seal Sector I-10 as well as Sector I-8 after over 600 cases were reported from both the sectors in a single day.

According to Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, over 400 cases have been reported from sector I-10, and 200 from I-18. He added that a formal notification would be issued in next few hours. The number of reported cases of Covid-19 in the capital city has now reached 8,857, of which 2,037 have recovered and 83 died.

According to official data, on June 15, total number of cases reported were 8,569, on June 14, 7,934, on June 13, 7,163, on June 12, 6,699, June 11, 6,236, June 10, 5,963, June 9, 5,783, June 8, 5,329, June 7, 4,979, June 6 4,323, June 5, 3,946, June 4, 3,544, June 3, 3,188,

June 2, 2,893, and on June 1, 2,589.

Meanwhile, teams of district administration have conducted visits of various markets and taken action against violators of standard operating procedures devised for controlling spread of Covid-19.
