ISLAMABAD: United States Vice President Joe Biden has said that Pakistan is a strong partner of America against terrorism.
While addressing the media jointly with Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani he reiterated that Pakistan’s success is in the interest of America and the relation will continue to grow in the interest of the region and the world at large.
Biden is currently visiting Pakistan and has provided an excellent exchange of views on bilateral, regional and the war on terror in Afghanistan and to bring peace in the war-torn country.
Continuing Biden said that the United States and Pakistan have forged a long-standing relationship against ideologies that give birth to violence and terrorism, adding also that he had fruitful discussions on various areas of mutual interest.
Biden reassured that the United States is not the enemy of Islam. “The assertion that America is against Islam is not true,” he said.
He said that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and is a part of the United States and that Americans of Pakistani descent are an integral part of their system.
About America's stance on India, Biden again reassured Pakistan that “the US does not want to dismantle Pakistan by supporting India.”
Eulogising the armed forces of Pakistan, Biden said that America is proud of Pakistan’s army and its efforts against war on terror.and reiterated increased cooperation between the armed forces of United States and Pakistan.
He regretted that the US could have done more for the flood victims.
The US Vice President said that the United Sates is committed to providing the $7.5 billion Kerry Lugar Bill as promised even though the US was going through tough times.
Biden condoled the murder of Punjab Governor the late Salman Taseer.
He said President Obama will visit Pakistan this year.
