farooq-sattarKARACHI: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr. Farooq Sattar has reiterated need for concerted efforts to channelise the potential of youth in the country, towards the right direction.

 

Speaking at the inaugural session of Newports Institute of Communications and Economics (NICE) students week 2013, he said youth comprising more than half of the country's population have to be groomed for a prosperous future of the nation.

 

Dr. Farooq Sattar also the Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement said the country was exposed to serious economic and security threats.

 

"A well trained, educated and skilled youth hold the panacea for the malaise," said the Minister.

 

He appreciated the management, faculty and students of NICE for organising the event and for their meaningful participation in it.

 

Dr. Farooq Sattar also emphasised the responsibilities youth need to share in improving the country's image in the international community.

 

Director of the Institute, Ms Huma Bukhari said NICE is continuously engaged in activities that not only enrich the students' academic capacities but also help them groom as socially conscious business leaders of tomorrow.

 

Bushra Raza in her welcome address referred to series of seminars and other recreational as well educational activities planned for the week.

 

"These are focussed to rejuvenate the students and also to boost their confidence in braving the challenges they are presently exposed to and those that would be faced by them in the future," said the senior faculty member of the Institute.

 

There were said to be more than 65 activities planned for the week providing students an opportunity to interact with dignitaries from government and corporate sectors besides those from the academia.

 

Director Finance and Planning Dr. M. Raza Ali, thanked the chief guest and other dignitaries attending the ceremony.
