MQM Flag 400KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has said that the party will part ways with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the media reported on Thursday.

Party MPAs staged a walk out of the provincial assembly in-camera session on Thursday over quashing of cases against members of the banned People’s Amn Committee.

MQM threatened to sever ties with the government over quashment of cases of persons involved in Lyari gang war.

Talking to the media today, MQM provincial minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed said that they will part ways with the government if the cases related to the Lyari gang war were withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the party convened an emergency meeting of its Rabita (coordination) Committee in Karachi and London to discuss further course of action, while all MPAs and workers have been summoned to party headquarters at Nine Zero.

It may be mentioned that earlier, Provincial Law Minister Ayaz Soomro had ordered withdrawal of 34 cases against members of the People's Amn Committee, including Uzair Baloch, Zafar Baloch and Habib Jan, which were registered after the Lyari operation in Karachi
