iftikhar-muhammad-chaudhryKARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that there is a dire need to protect witnesses during anti-terrorism cases, the media reported on Saturday.

In an anti-terrorism session of the Supreme Court today, the chief justice said security and safety of judges, investigation officers and witnesses is necessary, adding, witnesses stay away from testifying due to lack of protection.

He said, Witnesses are killed during trial to cover up evidence.

During the session, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said, punishment of criminals whose trial has been completed should be carried out.
