LONDON: World coffee exports rose to 9.67 million 60-kg bags in January, up 19.5 percent from 8.09 million in the same month in 2012, the International Coffee Organization said on Thursday.
Robusta coffee exports in January totalled 4.10 million bags, up from the prior month's 3.68 million and well above the 3.05 million shipped in the same month in 2012.
Arabica coffee exports rose to 5.57 million bags, down from the prior month's 5.68 million but still above the 5.04 million shipped in January 2012.
Exports in the first four months of the 2012/13 coffee year, which started on Oct. 1, rose 15.8 percent to 37.87 million bags compared with 32.69 million bags in the same period in the previous season.
