Buildings damaged in Abbas Town blast to be reconstructed: Ebad
KARACHI: The buildings that were damaged in the recent Abbas Town blast would be reconstructed.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan, has issued directives for the reconstruction of the damaged buildings at the earliest.
He said that the cost of reconstruction of these buildings would be borne by the Government of Sindh.
The Governor pointed out that funds would be made available in the special accounts for the Commissioner in a few days' time.
He said that for the construction of flats at the earliest it is essential that reputed bodies of architects be contacted in order to save time.
For supervising the process an eight-member committee has been formed under the Commissioner of Karachi and representatives of the affectees and welfare bodies are on this committee.
The Governor said that the estimate for the construction of the flats is to the tune of Rs 150 million and that the construction would be completed in six months' time.
He stated that the Abbas Town incident was a tragic one and added that the government is committed to eradicate terrorism and militancy.
