In a statement issued here on Sunday, he expressed deep grief and sorrow over the deaths and injuries to several persons as a result of the blast.
He said in the present circumstances it was necessary to evolve a national consensus in order to combat terrorism effectively, and the people would have to join hands with the government for uprooting terrorism from the country.
Altaf Hussain expressed sympathies to the grieving family members and prayed for the people who lost their lives as well as for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile Deputy Conveners of the party's Coordination Committee Dr. Farooq Sattar and Senator Mrs Nasreen Jalil visited Aga Khan Hospital and inquired after the well-being of the people injured in the Abbas Town bomb blast which occurred a few days ago.
They expressed heartfelt sympathies to the wounded people and assured that they should not consider themselves alone as the MQM was with them.
