KARACHI: The name of Justice (Retd.) Zahid Qurban Alvi has been selected as caretaker Chief Minister Sindh, the media reported on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the oppositionMuttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) came to a consenus regarding Justice Alvi as the caretaker chief minister of the province.
It may be mentioned that Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah sent a summary to Governor Ishratul Ibad for approval on Tuesday following which the Sindh Assembly was dissolved.
Justice Alvi will take oath on Thursday.
The name of Justice Alvi had been chosen after lengthy discussions regarding several names that came up for caretaker chief minister of the province.
In a joint media address with opposition leader Syed Sardar Ahmed on Wednesday, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that other names had been narrowed down but the name of Justice (Retd.) Zahid Qurban Alvi had been nominated after prolonged discussions.
Syed Sardar Ahmed said, "This is the first time that the Parliament has completed its full five-year term."
