ishrat-ul-ebadKARACHI: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan on Saturday decorated 28 recipients with the National Awards (Civil) on behalf of the President, at an investiture ceremony in the Governor House here on Pakistan Day.

These are the highest civil awards given on extra- ordinary contributions to persons from Sindh in the different sectors.

The ceremony was attended by Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh, Justice (Retd) Zahid Kurban Alavi, high civil and military dignitaries and other notables.

The Sindh Governor decorated nine recipients with Sitara-e- Imtiaz, three with President's Pride of Performance Award, 15 with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and one with Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam.

The recipients of National Awards (Civil) of Sitara-e-Imtiaz are : Al-haj Siddiq Ismail (Arts and Naat khawani). Prof. Dr. Naushad Ahmed Sheikh (Social Service), Yousuf Muhammad Sheerazi (Social Service), Prof. Dr. Saleem Ahmed Kharal Shaheed (Social Service), Shujaat Ali Baig (Banking), Muhammad Aslam Qazi (Journalism), Muhammad Ramzan Chippa (Social Service), Senator Taj Haider (Social Service), Abdul Sami Khan (Social Service).

The recipients of President's Pride of Performance Award are: Muhammad Rafiullah Khan (Education), Alamgir Haq (Arts), Ustad Naseeruddin Sami (Music).

The recipients of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz are: Dr. Ather Mehboob (Engineering), Dr. Rana Qamar Masood (Health), Dr. Muhammad Younis Haider Soomro (Health), Dr. Rasheed A. Shah (Education), Misri Jogi (Arts), Mrs Zaheen Tahira (Arts), Quresh Pur (Compering), Muhammad Anwer Iqbal (Arts, Drama and Acting), Dr. Pushpa Illyas (Literature), Nauman Abid Lakhani (Community Service), Aftab Ahmed Qureshi Shaheed (Social Service), Abdul Khaliq Ansari (Social Service), Kamla Nahid Shamsi (Literature), Dr. Niaz Ahmed Brohi (Social Service) and Masood Hashmi (Arts and Marketing).

Sister Mary Langan is awarded the Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam (Education).
