LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday sought reply from the Election Commission by March 29 on a petition by a woman candidate against transferring his vote from Lahore to Karachi.
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh passed the order on a petition filed by Naila Wali, a resident of Defence.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the petitioner was a resident of Lahore but the election commission refused to accept her nomination papers for provincial assembly seat on the pretext that her vote was registered in Karachi.
He contended that the petitioner was a resident of Lahore as per National identity Card. Therefore, directions should be issued to the election commission for correcting the record and allowing petitioner to participate in the elections, he added.
The court after hearing the arguments adjourned the matter till March 29 and sought a reply from the election commission.
