TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks ended 0.3 percent lower on Tuesday, but HTC Corp rose 1.5 percent even after the smartphone maker posted a record-low quarterly profit that missed analysts' estimates.
The main TAIEX index eased 24.25 points to 7,728.54 points, after opening up 0.18 percent. The decline was led by electronics shares slipping 0.5 percent. The banking sector shares were flat.
The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.054 at T$30.006 to the US dollar.
