MEXICO CITY: Mexican stocks fell sharply on Friday as broadcaster Televisa shares fell after its earnings report and following lawmaker advances in approving a telecommunications bill that could open it to tougher regulation.
The IPC stock index shed more than 1 percent to 42,105 points, also hurt by losses of more than 20 percent in homebuilders' shares after Corporacion Geo said it will not meet interest payments on certain local debt due on Friday.
