KARACHI: Last seen by the public on March 23rd, ex-Pope Benedict has moved back to the Vatican City. The first Pope to resign in almost 600 years chose to leave the Vatican City immediately after his abdication in order to remove himself physically from the process of electing his successor.
It is reported that ex-Pope Benedict is suffering through a sense of deflation similar to what many people feel once they stop working. The 86-year-old arrived in the Vatican City by helicopter from Castel Gandolfo, in the South of Rome, where he has been staying since February. He was greeted by his successor Pope Francis with hospitality and driven to his new accommodation in a convent in the Vatican gardens, a few miles away from the residence of the new Pope.
According to Vatican officials, the two would meet occasionally and discuss church matters. The arrival of ex-Pope Benedict indicates an extraordinary era of a former Pope living nearby his successor in the Vatican City.
