WASHINGTON: The United States must fulfil its pledges made to Pakistan, as the country is passing through a difficult phase and needs to be pulled out of its economic crunch, President Asif Ali Zardari has said.
Zardari expressed these views in a meeting with the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, who had called on him at the President House.
They discussed the US-Pakistan bilateral relations and the issues related to strategic dialogue, besides talking about Zardari’s visit to the US and the ongoing war against terrorism.
According to sources, Zardari apprised Munter of his meetings with President Barack Obama and other US officials, and stressed that the next phase of the Pakistan-US strategic dialogue should be started soon.
Pakistan was passing through a tough phase and the pledges made by the US should be fulfilled, said the President, adding that the war on terror had taken its toll on Pakistan’s economy and that the US should come forward to take it out of the current economic crisis.
