imageMULTAN: Punjab government will spend Rs1.4 billion to increase meat and milk production in the province.

According to official sources, nearly, 30 to 35 million population living in rural areas of the province is directly or indirectly depend on livestock sector and the Punjab government very much interested in this sector.

Different packages and incentive are being introduced for the farming community with an objective to elevate the sector.

District Livestock sources said that there were nearly 400,000 big animals including cows, buffaloes etc and one million small animals, goat, sheep and others present in Multan district.

Progressive farmer Iftikhar Ul Hassan appreciated the government for allocation for livestock sector and hoped the amount would surely help boost livestock sector in the province.

Pakistan Kissan Ittehad representative Ishaq Watto also hailed government's efforts for livestock sector and demanded maximum incentive for small farmers.
