MEXICO CITY: Mexico's economy is seen losing strength in the second-quarter of the year, dragged down by slowing demand for Mexican goods and services abroad, mainly in the United States, and weaker domestic consumption, according to a Reuters survey.
The median forecast of eight analysts saw gross domestic product rising 0.21 percent in the second quarter of the year, down from the seasonally adjusted 0.45 percent growth in the first three months of the year.
If growth came in at that level, it would be the lowest level since the second quarter of 2009, when Mexico's economy was struggling to escape the effects of the global economic crisis.
Mexico's statistics institute will publish the second-quarter GDP data on Tuesday August 20 at 1300 GMT.
