ISLAMABAD: A tough and close competition is likely to take place for NA-48, a constituency of the Federal Capital where all major political parties have fielded candidates for by-elections scheduled for August 22.
Ashraf Gujar of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Asad Umer of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) are contesting from NA-48.
Azm Habib, Tahir Mehmood Awan, Haseeb Jillani, Khalid Mehmood, Muhammad Qadeer, Shiekh Sajjad and Raja Nasir, who are supporting the PML(N) in the by-elections, said that the PML-N had done a lot for the country. It gave gifts of motorway projects to the people and made Pakistan an atomic power, besides completing several development schemes for welfare of the people.
The supporters of PML-N beleive that Ashraf Gujar will clean sweep the elections. "We have advantage that we are the ruling party of the country," they added.
On the other hand, Shiekh Khalid Saeed, Haji Mushtaaq Ahmed, Waleed Anwer, Zulfiqar Ahmed and Aqib Rehman, PTI's supporters and residents of sectors G-9, G-8 and G-7, said that Asad Umer was popular among the voters owing to his credibility, personality, character and commitment with the people.
They are hopeful for the victory of Asad Umer. They said the PTI had won from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in general elections 2013. The party's performance in the KPK province was effective like it introduced mobile courts and education reforms for the betterment of the people.
