imageAfter Chennai Express’ record-breaking marathon at the box office it is setting new records in the international arena too. The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer raked in a whopping Rs.270 crores Worldwide.

According to the latest figures within 12 days of its release, the romantic comedy notched a staggering Rs 185.73 crores at the box office in India and an additional 90 crores overseas.

And figures are expected to rise further. Media reports claimed King Khan attracted viewers by offering a free ticket on purchase of two tickets on the auspicious day of Rakshabandhan.

Chennai Express was released on as many as 3500 screens in the domestic market and 700 screens overseas, and is the fastest film to have reached the 100-crore mark in the history of Indian cinema.
