ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government is working on alternate energy sources besides construction of solar energy park in Southern Punjab to overcome the energy crisis.
He stated this while talking to a delegation led by Vice President of World Bank Phillip Hay here on Friday.
Shahbaz Sharif said that strict action was being taken against the elements involved in gas and electricity theft and no one would be spared in this regard.He said that consumers should cooperate with the administration and authorities concerned to stop the power and gas theft.
The Chief Minister urged the World Bank for cooperation in energy related projects.
He said that energy crisis has hit hard the domestic consumers besides halting the commercial and industrial activities resulting in massive losses to country’s economy, therefore needed to be addressed as soon as possible.
Shahbaz said that government solely can’t tackle the issue and private sector, foreign investors should also come forward. Change in social behaviour in consumption of national resources was also needed besides stopping power theft, he added.
Speaking on the occasion vice president WB Phillips Hay assured the Punjab Chief Minister for extending all kind of support for upraising the power sector in Pakistan.
