ISLAMABAD: Floods and heavy monsoon rains have killed 178 people and affected 1.5 million across Pakistan in the last three weeks.
Spokesman of National Disaster Managemtn Authority Kamran Zia told Radio Pakistan that over 1.5 million people were affected whereas around 49, 000 houses were also damaged due to floods.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, relief and rescue operations are in progress in flood-hit areas across the country.
He said that damages also include the cultivated crops on 1.32 million acres mostly affecting the Punjab and Sindh provinces.
"Under the relief program of NDMA, around 40,000 tents, over 100,000 food packs and over 16,700 blankets have been distributed among flood affectees", he added.
Nearly 350 relief camps have been set up to help people, mostly in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, he said.
"Further heavy monsoon rains are expected in Pakistan next month, but the NDMA is fully prepared," he said.
