MURREE: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Murree Tuesday said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have to work closely to bring peace in the region.
Both the leaders discussed security situation of the region. Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvaiz Kiyani, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Fatemi were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister at this occasion said that Afghanistan is close neighbor and brotherly country and we have common challenges and huge opportunities before us. He said that our security and future prosperity is linked to that of Afghanistan, in multiple ways. The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan attaches importance to a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan.
Mian Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and sincere support for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. He further said that the region has witnessed conflict and instability for decades now and it’s high time to realize our common positive agenda of peace and development.
Later the Prime Minister hosted lunch in honour of the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, wherein the Afghan delegation also participated.
Earlier the two leaders also held one-to-one meeting at Islamabad to discuss the bilateral issues. This was the second exclusive meeting between the two leaders in two days as the Afghan President extended his stay on the request of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
