FAISALABAD: State Minister for Water and Power Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali said the government was committed to eliminate corruption, nepotism, favoritism and stealing of electricity from the power sector.
He said, no one would be spared if found involved in misappropriation, abuse of powers and causing losses to the national kitty.
Speaking at an open court here on Sunday, Abid Sher Ali ordered the chief executive Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) for suspension of a sub-divisional officer (SDO), a meter inspector and a meter reader on complaints that they were involved in taking gratification.
The minister said the government would not tolerate stealing of electricity and wherever a case of power stealing was found, the concerned SDO and Xen would not only be held responsible but they would also be taken to task.
The minister said a vigilance cell was being set up which will evaluate performance of FESCO employees round-the-clock and whosoever found lethargic and having bad reputation would be kicked out from the service.
A comprehensive strategy had been evolved for screening the distribution employees right from line man to chief executive and no one would be spared if found guilty of corruption, nepotism, favoritism and poor service, he added.
The minister said he would personally pay surprise visit throughout the country to view the performance of the power sector officers and will issue at the spot order for removal from service and other disciplinary action if they found guilty of nepotism, corruption, etc.
