ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari was given a farewell guard of honour by the smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan’s armed forces at the President House on Sunday.
Smiling Zardari reached the ceremony on a horse cart. No prominent political personality or service chief was present on the occasion. Only two of his very close friends former Advisor on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain and property tycoon Malik Riaz were present on the occasion.
After the guard of honour, the president individually shook hands with senior officials of Aiwan-e-Sadr. On the occasion, the president’s spiritual leader Pir Mohammad Ijaz was looking very active.
Before the president left for the airport, PPP followers who had come from Sindh, raised Jiey Bhutto slogans.
The PPP leader made a history by completing a full five-year term after being democratically elected.
On Saturday night the president hosted a dinner for the staff of Aiwan-e-Sadr. On this occasion he said he is glad to leave his office with dignity and honour on completion of his term.
Asif Ali Zardari said that he always took decisions in the interests of the country.
