KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where three ship carrying containers and palm oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday, May 5.
Meanwhile, another ship carrying 65,000 tonnes furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port on Friday.
Berth occupancy was managed at 54% at the port on Thursday where a total of seven ships namely C.V Cantabrain, C.V OOL Kobe, M.V Majestic, M.V Rana, M.V Tycoon-II, M.T Ellen Knutsen and M.T Eemi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during the last 24 hours stood at 69,027 tonnes, comprising 52,100 tonnes import cargo and 16,927 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,8111 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.
Two container ships OOCL Kobe and CSAV Cantabrain sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
Container ship Glory is expected to take berth at QICT on Friday, May 6. Four ships C.V MSC Magali, C.V MSC Roberta, M.T Chemroad Mega and M.T Genmar Compatriotic are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day. Two ships C.V Saudi Hofuf and C.V Antje Wulf, are due to arrive on Saturday, May 7, while another ship C.V Maersk Wyoming Is due to arrive on Sunday, May 8.
