KARACHI: PIA's pre-Hajj operation of transporting more than 67,000 intending pilgrims from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia concluded on Wednesday, a spokesman of the national air carrier said here.
He stated that the airline carried more than 60,000 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 149 Hajj flights with on time departures and arrivals while approximately 7,000 travelled through PIA's regular scheduled flights.
It was pointed out that PIA operated 13 flights from Karachi and carried 5,382 intending pilgrims, 24 flights from Islamabad with 11,656 pilgrims, 16 flights from Lahore with 7,961 pilgrims, 47 flights from Peshawar with 15,906 pilgrims, 30 flights from Quetta with 9,659 pilgrims, 12 flights from Multan with 6,008 pilgrims, and 7 flights from Sialkot with 3,507 intending pilgrims.
Managing Director of PIA, Muhammad Junaid Yunus, congratulated PIA employees for successful completion of pre-Hajj operation and instructed all departments to work with the same zeal in making the airline's post-Hajj operation of returning Hajis successful.
PIA's post-Hajj operation of bringing back Hajis from Saudi Arabia will commence from October 19 and will conclude on November 19.
