ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has stressed the need to follow the Islamic fundamentals like sacrifice, love and brotherhood and religious tolerance to get the country out of various challenges, including terrorism and extremism.
The President, in his message on the occasion of Eidul Azha, highlighted the importance of annual ritual of sacrificing animals, which the Muslim Ummah follows according to the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (Allaih Salam).
He also touched the issues facing the country and called for unity and harmony among various segments of the society to effectively tackle the problems.
Following is the English rendering of the President's message:-
"On the auspicious occasion of Eidul Azha, I express my good wishes for all the fellow countrymen and the Muslim world and wholeheartedly congratulate those brothers and sisters, who are blessed with the holy opportunity of performing Hajj this year.
"Eidul Azha is a remembrance of the submission of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS) to the edict of Allah Almighty. On this day, these great personalities presented such an everlasting example of submission and sacrifice, which would continue to be followed as a sacred duty till the last day by all prosperous Muslims.
"Sacrifice has very importance for Muslims. This creates the desire and feelings of devotion, bravery and strength as well as accepting the will of Allah Almighty. The act of sacrificing by following the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) is a proof that we, for the will of Allah Almighty, consider sacrificing any kind of things and material as our pride and the way out for our ease. We on this occasion should also take care of the people having less resources so that they can also join the happiness of Eid in a reasonable way.
"In order to get our dear country out of the challenges it is facing, there is a need to follow the fundamentals like the spirit of sacrifice and submission, love and brotherhood, and sympathy and religious tolerance. For the promotion of peace and tranquillity and the feelings of love and affection, we, by keeping the regional, political, segmental and personal interest aside, will have to utilize our full energies for the development and prosperity of the country and nation and the trends of extremism and terrorism will have to be strictly eliminated. For us, this is the only way to betterment.
"I pray to Allah Almighty to bless us with the understanding to have our lives with the true message of Eidul Azha and make our dear country the cradle of peace, development and prosperity. Ameen."
