CANNES: US retail giant Costco aims to open its first store in France in a Paris suburb in 2015, a company executive said Wednesday.
The warehouse club aims to open 15 stores in France within a decade, with up to 6 in the Paris region, said the head of Costo France, Gary Swindells, at a commercial real estate conference held here.
After having their first project denied authorisation, the company plans to open in the town of Villebon-sur-Yvette southwest of the French capital in the spring of 2015.
The popular US food and merchandise retailer charges a membership fee to shop in its warehouse-type stores offering low prices on often bulk-packaged goods.
