CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures were narrowly mixed on Wednesday, with the front-month contract closing slightly higher on a mild short-covering bounce.
Deferred CBOT contracts were weaker, pressured by light export demand and weakness in the corn market.
The front-month contract's higher close was its first since Nov. 1.
Kansas City Board of Trade hard red winter wheat and MGEX spring wheat closed lower, their 11th straight negative sessions.
China is likely to import 8 million tonnes of wheat in the 2013/14 marketing year, the highest in nearly two decades.
Russia plans to harvest as much wheat in 2014 as it did this year, the country's agriculture minister said.
Tunisia's state grains agency rejected all offers in a tender for 92,000 tonnes of durum wheat due to a lack of participation. Traders said only four companies submitted offers.
