QUETTA: Atleast three people including one security personnel were killed and twenty five others injured in a powerful bomb blast in the provincial capital of Quetta, Thursday. Explosion took place near the mobile of paramilitary forces on Sirki Road area of the city.
"Unknown men had fitted remote control device with bycycle and parked it near the vehicles of security forces, they exploded it as secuity men were buzy checking vehicels and pedestrians," DIG Operation, Mohammad Jaffar told APP.
As a result of blast, three people including constable Mohammad Asghar, 13- year old child and 45-year old man died on the spot while 25 others including 9 security men suffered injuries.
Police and Frontier Corps men had established checking point as part of additional security measures on the eve of chief of banned outfit Balach Marri's death annivarsary, DIG further said.
The FC spokesman when contacted, confirmed that three personnel of FC sustained injuries. Two Vehicles of the paramiltary forces was damaged as a result of blast.
Explosive used in IED was 7 to 8 kilo gram, Bomb Disposal squad official told. Five civilian vehicels, 3 motrocycles, 1 rikshaw also got partially damaged. Glasses of nearby Bank and other buildings were also smashed.
Soon after the incident, police officials reached the site and threw cordoed around the area. The victims were moved to the Combined Miltary Hospital (CMH) and Civil Hospital Quetta. Emergency has been declared in the hospitals.
Police have started their initial investigation and collected evidence from the blast site.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Governor Balochsitan Mohammad Khan Achakzai flayed the incident and expressed sympathies with the families of victims. They called upon the police officials to arrest the culprits at earlitest.
