ISLAMABAD: The use of electricity has surged as the heatwave has gripped the country. The gap between the demand and supply of electricity has caused unscheduled power outages as the electricity shortfall has reached around 4500 megawatt, said authorities of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco).
The National Power Control Centre in Islamabad shut the supply to the overloaded grids of the country that are causing long hours of power shortages in big cities.
According to Pepco authorities, the entire power supply system will trip if supply to overloaded grids is not curtailed.
