BUENOS AIRES: Argentina's 2013/14 soybean planting area is seen at 20.45 million hectares (50.53 million acres), up from an earlier estimate of 20.2 million, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange said in its weekly crop report on Thursday.
The exchange also cut its 2013/13 commercial use corn planting estimate to 3.3 million hectares from a previous forecast of 3.46 million.
The South American country is the world's No. 3 exporter of both crops.
In the 2012/13 season Argentine farmers grew 48.5 million tonnes of soybeans on 19.7 hectares and 24.8 million tonnes of corn on 3.68 million hectares, according to the exchange.
So far this season Argentine farmers have planted 48.9 percent of their expected 2013/14 soy crop and 43.5 percent of their corn, the exchange said.
