Vegetable, fruit exports increase 104pc, 14.66pc
ISLAMABAD: Vegetable exports from the country surged by 103.65 percent during the first ten months of the current fiscal year against the same period of last year, Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) reported.
Vegetable exports during July-April (2010-11) stood at $199.042 million against the exports of $97.739 million during July-April (2009-10), according to FBS data.
Vegetable exports during April 2011 increased by 26.49 percent as compared to the same month of last year. Exports during April 2011 were recorded at $20.100 million against the exports of $15.891 million in April 2010.
However, as compared to the exports of $76.343 million in March 2011, vegetable exports during April 2010 decreased by 73.67 percent.
On the other hand, exports of fruits increased from $214.641 million in July-April (2009-10) to $246.114 million in July-April (2010-11), showing an increase of 14.66 percent.
Fruits Exports during April 2011 decreased by 36.01 percent and 73.41 percent as compared to the exports of April 2010 and March 2011 respectively.
Fruit exports during April 2011 were recorded at $7.551 million against the exports of $11.801 in April 2010 and US$28.393 in March 2011, according to the FBS data.
