MELUN: A woman was arrested by French police Sunday for allegedly stabbing her husband up to 80 times, in a small town southeast of Paris, according to a judicial source.
The source said the 35-year-old woman admitted to having stabbed her husband during a violent argument on Saturday night in Nangis, some 50 km (40 miles) from Paris.
According to the coroner's report, the husband, 42, had been stabbed between 70 and 80 times.
"The husband is dead. A reason for the dispute has not yet been established," said the judicial source.
The woman has been questioned by investigators but has not given an explanation for what happened.
The source said that she would be "examined by a psychiatrist" on Monday and that a case of "intentional homicide" could be opened by the evening.
