OTTAWA: Four people were injured Wednesday morning in a stabbing rampage at an office park in the Canadian city of Toronto, police said.
Toronto police Constable Jenniferjit Sidhu told AFP "a person armed with scissors or a knife" burst into a fifth floor office at a building in the city's north end.
A suspect was arrested and later identified as a 45-year-old employee of the company, she said.
Local media said the man worked in the payroll department for the human resources and payroll firm.
Authorities said he was wrestled to the ground and held by staff until a heavily-armed emergency response unit arrived and secured the building.
Police said a woman and three men, all between 30 and 40 years of age, were stabbed or slashed.
The woman and one of the men were rushed to hospital in critical condition after being stabbed several times. The other two suffered only minor cuts.
The incident came on the same morning that an American student stabbed or slashed 20 teenagers and an adult at a high school in the US state of Pennsylvania.
