ISLAMABAD: National Curriculum Council would be set up soon to devise minimum standards for all the public and private educational institutions of the country, promoting national integrity and religious values.
This was conveyed by State Minister for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman while addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony of Anwar-e-Madina Model College, Gujjar Khan held here Wednesday.
The minister said that the representatives from all the provinces have agreed on establishing the National Curriculum Council at the revived forum of Inter-Provincial Ministers Conference for bringing uniformity in the syllabus of different levels of education.
The government, in its efforts to bring improvements in Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), has appointed its new chairperson through following merit, he said.
He pointed out the need to improve the examination system with focus on conceptual learning instead of route learning.
The minister said Pakistan is lagging behind in education and likely to remain unable to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of education due to inconsistent policies in past.
He said the present government is prioritizing the four E's which are Energy, Education, Extremism and Economy.
Baligh-ur-Rehman said the government has signed different energy projects to produce 23000 Mega Watt electricity through coal based power plants and focussing on generating electricity through coal, hydel, solar and wind power instead of thermal.
Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Trust, Raja Mohammad Ishtiaq and Principal of the School also spoke on the occasion.
The minister distributed certificate among the position holders of different levels on the occasion.
