LAHORE: Pakistan on Monday reappointed Moin Khan as chief selector and manager of the national team, a week after fellow former captain Rashid Latif turned down the post.
"PCB is pleased to announce the appointment of Abbas as principal advisor to chairman (Najam Sethi) and Khan as chief selector and manager of national team," the PCB said.
Another former captain, Zaheer Abbas will be Sethi's chief principal advisor.
The 42-year-old Khan had served as head coach when Pakistan were runners-up at the February-March Asia Cup, and during the World Twenty20 in which they crashed out in the Super-10 stages. But his contract for that role was not extended after Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in five editions of World Twenty20.
Khan was appointed chief selector in July last year but his appointment was blocked by an Islamabad high court ruling which curtailed Sethi's powers.
Khan was then appointed manager of the team in August.
Abbas was appointed batting consultant of the team in February -- a post which has now been advertised as batting coach.
Khan's appointment leaves the door wide open for yet another former captain, Waqar Younis, to join as head coach.
