BANGKOK: Thailand's annual headline inflation rate probably rose to a one-year high of 2.29 percent in April from 2.11 percent in March, while the core rate edged up to 1.40 percent, a Reuters poll showed.
The core rate, which strips out fresh food and energy prices, was 1.31 percent in March, inside the central bank's target range of 0.5-3.0 percent.
The headline rate has been inching up since January due to higher food prices, pushed up by increased cooking gas prices. Still, the rate has been relatively benign and the central bank recently said this year's pace should not exceed its forecast of 2.5 percent.
