imageISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had failed to deliver and control corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Talking to a private news channel, he said PTI Chief Imran Khan was doing politics on only four points. The verification of voters' thumb impressions was not possible due to the sub-standard ink used in the last elections.

Even it was difficult to verify those of voters of NA-56 Rawalpindi, where Imran had defeated Hanif Abbasi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, he added. "If anyone has any reservations that elections were rigged, then he should approach election tribunals and courts. Why is the PML-N being blamed for the wrongs? The polls were supervised by a caretaker government and the PMLN should not be blamed.

He said the PTI government in KPK had not delivered its promises made during election campaign. It had failed to provide relief to the people of the province, he added.

He said the PTI even could not control corruption in KPK, the cases could not be lodged against provincial ministers, who were sacked on the charges of corruption, he added.

The minister said Imran Khan had done politicking on drone and NATO supply issues, which was against national interest. Even metro bus project was politicized, which was meant to provide cheap transport facility to the masses, he added. PTI raised objections on the amount of Metro Bus project, but they are spending more than the federal government on a similar project in KPK.

He said Imran Khan and PAT chief Tahir ul Qadri were holding rallies on non-issues. Minhaj-ul-Quran and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief was a non-democratic entity, who had no representation in parliament and did not believe in Constitution and democracy, he added.

Responding to a question, he said an independent judicial commission was probing the Model Town Lahore incident and we should wait for its recommendations.

The PML-N had always accepted court decisions and it will also implement the decision of commission in letter of spirit. Even Rana Sanaullah resigned as provincial law minister and appeared before the commission, which is an unprecedented in the political history of Pakistan, he added.

Responding to another question, he said the government was providing basic amenities to the internally displaced persons (IDPs), including security and transport facilities. The IDPs were being provided food, shelter, clean drinking water and medical facilities. Most of the IDPs used government vehicles for movement and they were carrying their cattle along, the Minister said.

The government had provided transport to the IDPs to shift them to safer palaces. Registration of 70 per cent IDPs had already been completed, while 100 per cent children of IDPs of upto five year age, had been administered anti-polio vaccine.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had visited IDP camps and directed the officials concerned to set up more camps and provide them all basic necessities.

Pervaiz Rashid said the government and the army were at same page as it was evident from the fact of the level of foreign investments in the country.

Chinese were investing huge amount on various development projects, USA provided assistance for Diamer-Bhasha Dam.

Pakistan also attained a GSP plus from EU. Had there been any division amongst the institutions of state, the world would have shown least interest in investing in Pakistan. He said the government had launched various projects to generate 2,400 mega watt power, which after completion, would help meet energy shortage.
