ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry through his counsel on Thursday submitted his reply over Supreme Court Registry Branch objections.
Sheikh Ahsan-ud-Din lawyer for former CJP submitted reply in the Supreme Court and stated that the former CJP sent legal notice to Pakistan tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on July 24 and PTI chief was asked to submit reply in 14 days and that period ends today.
He said it was mentioned in the paragraph 19 of the affidavit submitted in the legal notice which was sent to Imran Khan by the former CJP.
It was stated in the reply that these documents were necessary for legal action against PTI chief so the documents regarding contempt of court proceedings against Imran Khan should be provided.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a request by former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to seek records of a contempt of court case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
The former chief justice had sought details of this contempt case to strengthen his defamation case against Imran.
The printing branch of the Supreme Court rejected the plea, saying that Chaudhry was not the aggrieved party in the case and could not be provided with the relevant documents.
