More people claim falling sick due to heat intensity: Survey
ISLAMABAD: According to the results of a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan this year, a sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question: “Did anyone in your household fall sick due to the heat intensity this year?”
Around 38 percent replied in the positive while 58 percent said that no one in their household had fallen sick due to heat intensity while 4 percent did not respond.
This survey was compared with a similar survey conducted two years back and having the same question.
Results indicated that the proportion of people who reported yes had increased from 29 percent to 38 percent in the last two years. Furthermore, the claim to falling sick is higher in urban areas, which is 43 percent compared to 36 percent in rural areas in 2011.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2967 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 12-18, 2011.
The error margin is estimated to be approximately +2-3 percent at 95 percent confidence level.
