javedFAISALABAD: Senator Javaid Ashraf Qazi, the member Standing Committee of Senate for Textile Industry, said Iran and Turkmenistan gas supply projects would help overcome gas crisis.

Addressing a meeting of local traders, industrialists, businessmen and exporters at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Wednesday, he said "We are visiting textile industries personally to ascertain problems being faced by the textile sector".

He said these problems would be discussed with the ministry concerned in addition to evolving a comprehensive strategy for their redressal on top priority basis.

He said Faisalabad was a textile capital of Pakistan and if the industry of this city was suffered, the entire textile export chain would suffer.

He urged the industrialists and exporters to capture precious foreign exchange instead of seeking aid from European countries.

He said gap between supply and demand created a numerous problems. In

this connection, we should focus on research in agriculture sector as agriculture was playing a pivotal role in the stability of national economy.

He advised the FCCI for the establishment of an agri research institute because concentrating on agri research our neighbor India is getting eight times more cotton production than our country.

Senator Hajji Adeel said Pakistan was facing multifaceted problems as terrorism chocked our economic progress and prosperity.

He stressed the need to accelerate efforts to completely weed out terrorism from Pakistan and said that in this regard we should forge unity to foil nefarious designs of these elements.

He presented a proposal of solar energy to overcome the energy crisis prevailing in the country and said that many thermal projects were in pipeline and waiting for investment.

Earlier, Chairman Ad-hoc Management Committee FCCI Muhammad Naseer in his welcome address highlighted various problems being confronted by the textile sector of Faisalabad.

Senator Abdur Razzaq, MNA Raheel Baloch, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) Waseem Lateef, Chaudhary Salamat Ali of Hosiery Sector, Chairman APTPMA Sheikh Muhammad Saeed and others were also present on the occasion.

Later, FCCI mementos were also presented to the guests.
