IGPKARACHI: IGP Sindh Wajid Ali Durrani has said that strategy has been made to weed out criminals who have taken shelter in political parties.

"We discussed the issue with political parties in this regard and it has been decided to launch major crackdown against the criminals, particularly in disturbed localities," he said here Thursday while addressing the members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).

He said that all complaints of businessmen will be addressed in various phases and added that it will be ensured to provide congenial working atmosphere for business community in Karachi and other parts of the province.

"You will see positive results very soon," he added.

Regarding wall chalking and flag hoisting by political parties in the city, Durrani said that the issue was not so easy to be handled as any action by police could create law and order problem.

However, he said the issue will be discussed with the chief executive of the province.

About complaints of permission to carry weapons for self-protection, the IGP said that he will discuss the issue with the Home Department officials.

Durrani said that businessmen could carry licensed arms with private guards in uniform and proper identity cards duly verified.

"The display of arms in civil dress will not be permitted as sometimes it creates misunderstanding and causes law and order problem."

He said that additional police force will be provided in SITE and Korangi industrial area.

About complaints against Traffic Police, he issued directives for a mechanism so that the vehicle owners are informed about the whereabouts of the vehicles if lifted away due to wrong parking.

He further assured the KCCI members that they will soon see tough action to curb cases of kidnapping for ransom, armed robberies and extortion.

Earlier, KCCI president Saeed Shafique also raised many issues related to law and order and extended all cooperation to the Police Department in this regard.
