Shahrukh Khan recently released film ‘Happy New Year’ has earned more than Rs 300 crores at the box office but it has not impressed Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan at all. Jaya recently criticized SRK film ‘Happy New Year’ during a literature festival in Mumbai.
According to media reports Jaya Bachchan said, “Happy New Year is the most nonsensical film I've seen in recent years. I said that to the films lead actors as well. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he's a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that. I can't be part of what is being done in films these days and hence I don't do films anymore”.
Abhishek Bachchan has a double role in the film and garnering many appreciations from the audiences but his mother Mrs Bachchan is not satisfied with his acting in ‘HNY’. The topic of discussion at festival was ‘The failure of literature in informing current cinema’. Jaya further said, “Unfortunately cinema today is about business, not art. We call good films art house cinema. What does that even mean? All cinema is art”, Indian media reported.
Jaya Bachchan has been acted some classic movies during her time and her performances in movies such as ‘Guddi’, ‘Bawarchi’, ‘Upahaar’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Mili’ and ‘Abhimaan’ were critically acclaimed. She has also worked during recent times in movies such as ‘Fiza’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, and ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’.
