‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ star Leonardo Dicapro may join Jennifer Lawrence in David O Russell’s upcoming film ‘Joy’.
‘Joy’ is a biopic movie based on ‘Joy Mangano’. Mangano, a struggling single mother of three from Long Island, who rose to be America’s most successful entrepreneur with her fancy Miracle Mop.
According to media reports, the director is reportedly revising the script for DiCaprio, who has express fleeting interest in the true-story inspired drama. Russell is also expanding the small role of a QVC executive for his frequent collaborator Bradley Cooper. Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro would play the role of father to Lawrence's in ‘Joy’.
Filmmaker Russell said, “It’s the story of a certain woman, what’s going on inside her from a young girl, broke, to when she becomes a bit of a mogul, a bit of a power broker. And the people she’s surrounded by are extremely, she has very complicated, deep, personal family relationships, which are the bane of her and the reason she is who she is”, media reported.
Previously, Russell directed Lawrence in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and ‘American Hustle’. Lawrence won an academy award for her role in ‘Silver Linings’ and was nominated for her performance in ‘American Hustle’. Meanwhile, Russell was nominated for an Oscar in the best director category for both movies.
